Description:
Black satin or silk handsewn, long sleeve, lady's blouse with a mandarin style collar. Hook and eye attachments at back around bottom edge to attach to a skirt. Probably worn during a period of mourning in the Victorian era. The blouse belonged to the donor's great grandmother Kate Seamon who was born in Ireland and fled the potato famine, came out to New Zealand and lived in Gisborne. The donor's relations are buried on the Kapiti Coast.
