Letter from J Port to Aunt & Uncle:

Aug 9/79
Dear Aunt & Uncle
I suppose you thought that I had forgotten to write to you, but as it is drawing near our holidays so I have more lessons to prepare on account of the examination. I was glad to hear that Aunt arrived safe and well. I hope she will be better for her trip down. I wished she had stayed longer while she was here. Mary and Rachel have got their holidays they broke up on Thursday we do not get our holidays till the 28th of this month. It has been very bad weather here lately but I hope it will be fine for our holidays. I expect youa re busy making the garden in front of the house. I should like to know if you have planted any of the firs in it yet. I should also like to know if Aunt Hughey's finger is better yet. I hope it is she must be careful and not use her hand to much as the Doctor said that it would get worse instead of better, but I hope it is better now. I also hope that your leg is better and will continue so. We are all well at present hoping you are the same. I am sending you Mary's report which is a very good one as you will see, she is also getting on well at music. You must excuse these few lines as I have nothing more to say at present and it is late. Mary & Margaret send 20 kisses to you, and we all join in sending you our love.
I remain your sincere nephew
