Description:
Medal, round made from copper and at the top there is a small hole that has white material with gold thredding suspended from it. There is a small piece of wire around the material near the hole. On one side around the edge it has engraved "CHILDRENS SOUVENIR VISIT DUKE DUCHESS OF CORNWALL TO NZ" and in the middle it has the profile of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall, who later became King George V and Queen Mary. On the other side it has engraved, "HMS OPHIR IN WHICH THEIR ROYAL HIGHNESSES CAME TO NZ" and in the middle it has the ship Ophir and the date of the visit "JUNE 1901". These medals were issued to school children in New Zealand to commemorate the royal visit.
