ITEMS FROM A CONVERSATION WITH MR.ALF MONK IN PRESENCE OF MRS NANCY CLIFTON (Ruth Wright)
Around 1938—39 or even 40 somebody can't remember who but they lived near the Stubbings Bridge at Reikorangi. They built an aeroplane more like a gryrcopter [helicopter] really — it was built out of a big drum. It flew alright but blew up on its maiden flight.
Stubbings Bridge was near the Post Office near a big fir tree,
I think the Boys Institute was built in the forties possibly after 1945
Mr Reynolds shop was opposite Stubbings Gate the next terrace above what is Dalzells cow shed now.
