[content as follows:]

Dear Mr Parata

Having forgotten the representation of the 'Otaki Mail's" name I want to ask you if you will do me a favour by giving him (on my behalf an apology).
He made out a report of your making for the Evening Post, which I brought down for him and gave to one of the Evening Post Staff a (Mr V Haydon) & he states the Sub Editor (Mr Parker) got that copy at 9am Thursday morning. To further strengthen his statement he tells me he is positive he saw the copy go through to the printer, in which case it must have been left over for want of space.
I fully expected it would be in today, but I suppose they considered it "stale" news.
So to alleviate myself & the impression that might be that I did not deliver it after my friend's entrustment. I want to apologise for its non—appearance, & to show I done my share towards its appearance in the "Post", which evidently was not to be.
I hope you were pleased with the report in our paper — naturally after the kind way you entertain us up there I boomed you up to the highest, but alas! it was struck out for the want of space, but never mind — better luck next time & may the heavens be in a drier mood.
Again thanking you & hoping your balance sheet of this year comes out on the right side.
Yours faithfully
J F Barry
