Friends in Retirement

MEETINGS: — First Mondays, 1.30pm.
Baptist Church Hall

GREETINGS FRIENDS...The news is do good I can hardly wait to tell you. It also demonstrates so well that we are a group of friends working together to build FiR that I have tried a new heading this time which, I hope, illustrates just that.

The good news is that we have a full committee of volunteers ready to make our first birthday party in May an occasion for a smooth and happy change—over. It is not easy to offer oneself for these sorts of jobs and Hazel was very brave to volunteer at the last monthly meeting (although we did notice a few gentle nudges from her sister!). Since then phone calls have come with offer to fill the two remaining vacancies. No one has had their arm twisted or even asked to take on the jobs. All are well qualified for the positions. As a committee member quoted at last week's meeting, "One volunteer is worth ten pressed wo/men" and another said that elections are always stressful and often unfriendly.

This is an innovative and friendly way of doing things. I am sure we can look forward to a happy and progressive second year.

The committee offering is: chairman Pam Miller, deputy and newsletter editor Liz Falla, secretary Marie Pack, Treasurer Peggy Booth, Membership sec. Hazel Farrell.
To them we offer a very BIG THANKYOU
